Skiddaw via osprey viewing point A short walk from Dodd Wood Car Park, brings us to the osprey viewing point. We will spend a short period of time there to try and catch a glimpse of the ospreys, hopefully with young, that nest on the other side of Bassenthwaite Lake. An up to date report on the ospreys can be found on the official Ospreywatch website. On leaving the osprey viewing point we start to ascend with superb views unfolding of Bassenthwaite Lake, across Keswick to Derwentwater and beyond. From the summit of Dodd there follows a steep ascent to the summit of Skiddaw. Our route then takes us along the ridge to Ullock Pike, then through pleasent woodland we return to Dodd Wood Car Park. |
