A week of guided walks based mainly in Glencoe, Scotland.

This holiday will run in September 2009 if there is enough interest.

Overview of the Walking Holiday:
Glencoe is the ideal base for a guided walking holiday in the mountainous Lochaber District of the Western Highlands of Scotland.

Loch LevenYour holiday includes 6 nights accommodation from a Saturday in September 2009 to the following Thursday, at Youth Hostels run by the Scottish Youth Hostel Association. Transportation to/from and during the holiday is not included, nor is food. Accommodation can be arranged for following Friday as an optional addition to the holiday, which would enable you to relax after your final walk and travel home the following day. The guided walking holiday can also be booked without the Youth Hostel accommodation. This will leave you free to arrange your own accommodation and the price of the holiday will be adjusted accordingly.

It is planned to do 5 days of strenuous mountain walking with 1 relaxed sightseeing day visiting some of Scotland's beautiful islands.

All the guided walks will be led by myself, Mark Scott. I am a fully qualified Mountain Leader and a member of The Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team. I have many years mountain walking experience in Scotland, the Lake District and further afield, visit my About Mark page if you would like to know more.

Buachialle Etive Mor AmedAll the guided walks on this holiday are very physically demanding. They will involve walking all day (estimated 7hrs minimum), the actual time will depend upon the capabilities of the group members. The walking will involve both steep ascents and descents, the height gain on each walk will be in the region of 900-1250m (3000-4000ft) with a minimum distance of 8 miles. Mountain terrain is by nature rough and rocky, paths will be used where possible, but these can involve negotiating boulder fields and scree. There may also be the necessity for some easy scambling. Therefore, to fully enjoy this holiday you will need to be physically fit and it is essential that you have previous experience of high level fell walking.

If you wish to ask any questions about the type of walking involved or would like to discuss with me your suitability for the holiday, please do not hesitate to phone or email me. See my Contact page for more details.
