Classic Walks, Summer 2014

Welcome to the new Classic Walks programme for summer 2014.

The list has been devised to cover the majority of the popular fells and some not as frequently visited. Where possible it is planned to walk on quieter paths to the summits and on the way look at the geology, flora, fauna and history of the area therefore adding to the enjoyment of the walk.

I have kept the cost of the walks static for 4 years - £20.00 per person. During this time transport costs and car parking have risen dramatically so unless you live locally getting to the start of a walk can be greater than the cost of the walk. I have tried to off-set this by choosing starting points, where possible, that either have free parking or a National Trust car park.

Last year car sharing was suggested if people live in the same area or perhaps they could meet in a convenient car park. By doing this the cost of a walk would be much less. If you are interested in this, please let me know. I have also paired some walks in the same area for a weekend, Wasdale and Langdale for example. Why not make a weekend of it?

I hope there is a walk on the list you would like to do. If there is another one you would like please contact me to arrange it.

If there is enough interest during the summer, a walking week can be arrange on the Isle of Skye or the Glen Coe - Ben Nevis area. Please let me know if you are interested and I will try to arrange a walking group for these areas.
